ABOUT
Piano Piano is an Italian restaurant in Ireland that beautifully blends the essence of Italian gastronomy with a cosy, minimalist, and sophisticated atmosphere. The restaurant’s visual identity was created entirely from scratch, aiming to capture the authenticity and charm of Italy in an elegant and inviting way.
A particularly special aspect of this project was the complete creative freedom granted by the owners, who encouraged me to develop the design according to my own style, without any references or constraints. This autonomy made the process even more inspiring, allowing for a genuine expression of my personal design vision.
The result is a visual identity that achieves a perfect balance between tradition and modernity, highlighting the sophistication of Italian cuisine while maintaining a warm and welcoming touch for every guest.
CHALLENGE
The main challenge in this project was to capture the spirit of Italy without relying on obvious visual references such as the flag, colours, or traditional motifs. I wanted to create an identity that felt unmistakably Italian, yet modern and understated. This required finding the right balance between elegance and simplicity — using typography as the core expressive element, complemented by a delicate tomato symbol that subtly evokes Italian culture. The result is a visual language that communicates authenticity and sophistication without resorting to convention.
